Armstrongites Worried That Glenn Beck May Bring Undo Attention To The True Believers

This was sent to me today by a reader here. It seems that the diehard Armstrongites are worried right now about a story that Glenn Beck did on British Israelism.  What these people fail to understand is that BI is NOT unique to Armstrongism and is believed by the Mormons and other church groups around the world.

I regularly watch Glenn Beck's TV program...some shows are good some aren't. He has a huge audience and his number of paid subscribers to his website is larger than the number of people who watch CNN in primetime. Well my jaw dropped the other night when he did a segment on why the fate of Jerusalem is more important to America than many imagine. He mentioned that Israel was divided into two kingdoms, Israel and Judah. He then went on to explain that the northern kingdom of Israel migrated into Europe and then spent quite some time showing how symbols of Israel are spread all though out our flags and symbols.

Now I'm not sure where he is going to go with this and how far he is going to take it BUT....IF it takes hold in the mind of his viewers and they start to investigate this forgotten fact of history further it could very well start focusing attention on God's Church and It's teachings and doctrines.

Now there is a real possibility that nothing will come of this BUT, since it could impact each and every one of you I felt it was worth mentioning. Be prepared to answer questions. Personally I feel that one of our most serious responsibilities is to be able to properly answer questions correctly and in a way that is easy to understand to the one asking the question.
Being ready to give an answer on a theory that has been proven to be irrelevant is nothing to get worried over.  If these Armstrongites truly believed in a "new" covenant, then they would know that there is neither Jew nor Gentile, male or female....you are..heirs according to my promise.  Instead, their provincial world exists only in Hebrew scriptures and constructs of the law.

Memorial Orthodox Presbyterian Church
Rochester, NY
Where my journey began

Dennis Diehl - EzineArticles Expert AuthorI don't recall as a child either myself or my parents viewing the Presbyterian pastor as either "in charge" or "the minister" whose every view and idea, strange , weird or ill informed, had to be listened to and followed.  He was the minister. He taught the Bible, conducted services, visited the sick and maybe occasionally was asked to "counsel" someone on some topic but I am not sure that was a role he played either.   No one ever said, "the minister came over today," in sheer terror or "I'm getting a visit from the minister," as if something terrible or highly corrective was about to happen.  Every minister I ever experienced before WCG was just a nice guy, doing what he felt he was called to do or making his own choice to do it and presenting the Bible to us in a practical and meaningful way.  We did not follow him nor did he ask or expect that. None of them ever got up and announced after hours of sermon blather that they had come to see themselves spoken of in the Scriptures and they were either now a Prophet, Apostle, Watcher, Elijah, Zerubbabel or Joshua the High Priest.  We would have all died laughing, fallen out of the pews and fired him recommending counseling and medication I suppose.

It took me awhile in the ministry to figure out that ministers in the WCG were a more authoritarian figure than in my experience growing up. They took their cues from HWA.  I was 18 when sitting in Harmony of the Gospels Class I heard Rod Meredith say, "There is God, Jesus, Herbert W Armstrong, Garner Ted Armstrong, myself and a few other leading Evangelists...."    I recall thinking how weird a thing that was to say.   I noticed that after "and myself" he could not come up with any specific names.

My first experience with ministerial authority came when Rod Meredith had announced that if he was late for class, not to waste time waiting.  Someone should man up and lead a discussion until he got there.  So I did.  LOL!   It pissed him off evidently and when I went to lunch he was running track and called me over.  I thought he was going to say something nice but he asked me if I had repented of doing that...  Sure, fine, whatever.  That man confused me at times.

My first experience with ministerial authority in the churches was in Minneapolis but I have to say those I worked with did not seem so inclined.  Some of my best memories and funniest days visiting was with Vic Kubik, now President of UCG.  I recall him once during one of his attempts to trim down a bit getting a little crazy around Passover for something missing from his diet.  Since it was past Easter and the chocolate bunnies were half price, he bought one and devoured it from ears to tale and we laughed our asses off.  We also knew we could stop anytime for a Whopper, fries and Coke for $1.19 on the road and it fit the budget.  Once we first visited a home that was merely a burned out hole in the ground.  There was a half burned piano in the hole.  Vic said, "I guess they are not home."  and again it was just fun and real.  The best was when we called on a new visit and sat in the kitchen talking for about a half hour before Vic asked them how they came in contact with the church?  They said, what church?   The people we meant to see lived next door......  Say what you wish, but have always liked Vic Kubik and where his heart seemed to be.  He's been the ONLY minister I know who puts the practical Jesus into practice with Life Nets.  I also was close to Denny Luker in the day and felt I knew his heart well though we did disagree along the way.

It was in Chicago the next year I began to learn about following the minister and doing what your were told either in your personal life or as lead by "the minister" who ultimately knew more about the Bible than you ever could.   I was the understudy, so to speak, of a Regional Director who brought me into Chicago because he liked my grades in his Epistles of Paul Class.  That's where I learned to babysit, wash minister's cars, show up at all hours of the day and night and hang out at the YMCA.  I learned to drink in Chicago.  I learned to rate ministers as liberal or conservative, HWA men or prone to GTA.  It's where I learned NEVER to go through the door ahead of the RD and never to leave the sauna before the RD as "I might have something important you need to hear."  It was a freaking mess and I wanted out.  Dave Pack came  back into the ministry in Chicago and I really wanted out.

Save OBU: Cedarville University: A Very Brief Introduction

To make a long story short, all hell broke loose in Chicago in 1974, ministers were spying on ministers and taking license plate numbers at secret meetings that I had no clue I was attending.  LOL  I knew I was attending but I did not know they were secret.  I got fired one day in a phone call for guilt by association. Drove home to NY to see my parents and got rehired explaining I had no clue what the hell was going on. I still believed in what I perceived as my calling and spiritual perspectives.  I got transferred to Eire, Pa but on the way got a call to turn South and head to Findlay, Ohio where I spent 8 nice, leave me alone years, with wonderful folk.  Of course, the Corporate Church and "ministers to be followed," were into one damn scandal after the next and that is where I learned the fine art of denial.

Why do the many follow the few as if they knew?  Why did I not say, "wash your own damn car," or "they're your kids, you take care of them."?   If you told me today not to walk through the door before you did, you'd regret it.   If you told me not to leave the room before you did because you might have something important to say, I'd laugh my ass off and tell you I'll see you when you get finished feeling special and important.  It was a game one minister used to pay in the sauna to stay until the last guy was driven out by the heart and he alone survived.  I knew his game and left early on purpose.  I suppose I didn't want to be labeled as having a "bad attitude" or mess up a chance to get out on my own away from the crazies.

Scream | Franz Patrick's Film Archive

In my experience, it was not uncommon for members from surrounding areas calling or writing and asking for help on how to cope with their ministers.  They called me to help them cope with Ron Weinland, Ron Reedy and Dave Pack.  They called to pour out stories about how they were treated by  a now Evangelist for LCG.  I always asked it they had talked to their minister personally about the problem or hurt.  By the time they called, the answer was always, "yeah right...not doing that again." It's also fascinating to me that these same types of austere or "don't you know who I am," types are STILL the ministers in the splinters.  They got PROMOTED and life is good.  Go figure....

I had a habit of visiting all the kicked out of the church by the last minister types when coming to a new area and most came back to church with a little encouragement and forgiveness for whatever grievous sin they commited previously.  I stopped by to see one woman not knowing I would be walking into a raging bee's nest of anger.  She yelled at me through the screen door about the Armstrongs spending and big idea about themselves and I just listened.  She then asked what I thought about that and I said that I agreed which I did.  She smiled and came back to church the next week.  It was hilarious.

Lies Young Women Believe | When To Confront a Friend

The now LCG Evangelist who I replaced here in Greenville evidently felt women should not ask questions in church and should only ask their husbands Bible questions.  At least this is what one woman told me as she tested me on this issue when first arriving.  She asked if she could ask me questions whenever she wanted and that she had been told she could only ask her husband.  (It is in the Bible actually and worthy of edit or errasure).  I asked her why she would ask me such a thing.  She said, because "I want answers and my husband is stupid."   Again...hilarious and I said to ask me whatever, whenever.

Doc's Rainy Day Web Site » Who Killed JFK, Jr.?

Where are the brakes within such churches as Gerald Flurry's PCG or Dave Pack's RCG?  Why are there NO demands for accountability, balance and applying the principle of there being wisdom in the multitude of counsel when these types of men get their big ideas going at the expense of everyone else?  Can't they see what is going to come of all this ridiculous theology so called? What's with Restored Church of God current members who can't speak up?  You can't tell me they ALL believe everything Dave can come up with about himself and how the Bible points to him in his narrow and theologically under educated world. Of course the answer is , "He'd disfellowship me."  Why can't you say "So what"?

Dave has arrogantly and openly admitted he will abide no disagreement and not permit "papers" to be written exploring other avenues of belief on topics that Dave has already decided he knows the one true answer to. Dave's Wonderful World Today was Hitler's dream.  Where is the internal discussion as to where a Dave Pack or Gerald Flurry is taking us?  I imagine there are a number of Ron Weinland devotees who, now that he is behind bars, will speak up as to what they always felt or disagreed with but never when he was around.  I guess we all do that at times out of one kind of fear or another. Fear can keep you in your seat and mouth shut.

The Thirsty Gargoyle: A Wild Obsession

I will tell you plainly that the Dave Pack's and Gerald Flurrys of religion are just men with strange and often weird ideas about themselves and theology.  They are neither special or insightful beyond measure. They may be loud or they may be intimidating, but they are just men. They may throw scripture around as if they were Peter, James, John or Paul in the flesh but they are just men.   I guarantee you, Gerald Flurry is not "that Prophet" of Malachi nor is Dave Pack any real incarnation or fulfillment of Haggai's Joshua. Herbert Armstrong was not really any end-time Zerubbabel nor was he any Elijah to come.  That is just theological bullshit. Both concepts and personal beliefs are stupid beyond measure and outside of their own followers all you'd hear from real theologians would be, 'they said what?  You're kidding me?"  In a very small and controlled world you lose your sense of self and all too often your common sense.

Both men have made fools out of themselves making scripture mean what it never meant and never will mean. Those that put up with and never speak up to, as their resources both in mind and money, are sucked up to preach foolishness and analogies gone amuck are going to get really hurt spiritually.  There will be a lot of forehead smacking when they admit "I never really believed all Mr. Pack told us about himself," but never had the courage to say when he was saying it.  Trust me, I don't blame you. I know how that works but realize you will wish you had. Whatever consequence you are afraid you'd suffer for pointing out these men's folly is NOTHING compared to what you will have to deal with when it is obvious to all and no more denial allowed.

You Can't Fix Stupid - ROFLCAT - Funny Cat Pictures

I'm not against leadership. I'm against stupid.  I'm not against being organized for a common good.  I am against being herded.   I am not against ministers and pastors.  I'm against those who are anything but helpers of people's joy and servants above all else.
So...I dedicate this song to the last two weeks of August 2013 and the cooler theologies that now doubt will spring from the coming of Fall.

See You In September
(The Happenings)

I'll be around each and every night
Reading your stuff 'cause you're just not right
Bye-bye, so long, farewell
Bye-bye, so long
See you in September
See you when the summer's through
Here we are (bye, baby, goodbye)
Saying goodbye to the crazies (bye, baby, goodbye)
Strange weird ideas... (bye, baby bye, baby)
Have taken you away (bye, baby, goodbye)
Have a good time... but remember
There is danger in the summer moon above
Will we see you in September
Or lose you to this summer's dumb?
(counting the days 'til they walk from  you)
(counting the hours and the minutes, too)
Bye, baby, goodbye
Bye, baby, goodbye
Bye, baby, goodbye (bye-bye, so long, farewell)
Bye, baby, goodbye ...
amen......

Philadelphia Church of God: Is Your Child Safe Attending Their PYC Summer Camp?

From a reader here:

My son was "accepted" as they call it in PYC, to attend his first camp in 2011 when he was thirteen. It seems a lot of things the PCG does seems good, but the problem is, the ministers don't practice love for their fellow man. They are on too much of an ego trip they can't think straight. Camp was a good learning experience IF some of the psychopath ministers would stay away. For instance, Calvin Culpepper, a minister was playing ball with my son's dorm and one of the balls he hit to my son knocked him in the head. He had big headaches after this and got sick and had to sit out a few days in sick bay. Calvin Culpepper never called me to tell me this nor Wayne Turgeon, camp director, (Gerald Flurry's son-in-law). As a matter a fact, because we were not allowed to get in touch with our kids but at certain times, I didn't get the whole impact of what could have happened to the inside of my son's head until he came home three weeks later. We're out of the PCG now. We survived, thank God!

PCG has a track record of totally disregarding the youth in the church:  Philadelphia Church of God Parents Abandon Minor-Aged Daughter

Philadelphia Freedom - Arbeit Macht Frei?  The PCOG holds youth camps at Armstrong College during the summer trying to create positive public relations buzz in packaged news reports released to local Oklahoma news outlets. However, unfiltered reports from the direct participants of what actually has occurred at the camps have surfaced. Letters about the camps sent to ESN with a reported camp sermon tirade by Flurry may be read by clicking here. Concentration on camp sporting activities combines with mandatory bible studies, harsh discipline, and campers being closely guarded twenty four hours a day. Reports of sleep deprivation; completely exhausted youth; inadequate meals; severe dehydration, heat exhaustion; camp injuries; nonexistent, or negligent medical care; and of military boot camp type techniques used to enforce constant, severe discipline have emerged. The Edmond, OK church college camp is for those who are 13-19, whose parents are baptized members of the PCOG. Acceptance at the PCOG Youth Camp can serve as an indoctrination and recruitment tool for idealistic, religiously inclined church youth to apply to Gerald Flurry's unaccredited Armstrong College.

Other widespread concerns for family members impacted by the PCOG include no further contact orders with family, once family members are disfellowshiped by the ministry. Philadelphia church members are ordered to shun any contact with family members or others who have been excommunicated, or disfellowshiped for any reason, valid or not, by the minister. The slightest criticism or minor doubt expressed about Malachi'sMessage, purportedly written by "That Prophet" Flurry as the "little book" referred to in Rev. 10, is strictly verboten upon pain of disfellowshipment. Philadelphia church members are only allowed PCOG approved reviews of Malach's Message, Raising the Ruins, Mystery of the Ages, and other such church writings at such booksellers as Amazon.com if they wish to remain a member of the church. Nor are PCOG family members who are outsiders allowed to post uncensored reviews of PCOG literature or risk disfellowshipment and permanently losing contact with their own family loyal to Flurry. Personal letters of PCOG family members directly impacted and hurt by PCOG's no family contact policy or otherwise may be found at ESN here.

GoodFellas Movie Review & Film Summary (1990) | Roger Ebert

I believe we have all learned much over the years about the bullies of narcissism in high places.  Most people don't have the time and don't run across such personality disorders in their lives but they infest the office, the government and religious organizations.  Narcissists, defined below and it should give members and ministers in some of the more bizzaro Church of God Slivers pause if you have never considered just what may actually be going on over your head.  While it is not our or my place to diagnose a clinical narcissist, one can observe and compare the common traits and draw their own conclusions about what exactly may be the fuel driving the engine of ministry gone amuck.

10 Screenwriting Tips You Can Learn From Goodfellas! - ScriptShadow

Joe Pesci in his Goodfellows role is an extreme example of the problem.  Truly one of the more tension filled movie characters ever created.  When he entered the room, he was the room.  When he spoke, everyone listened or else,. When he got angry, someone died.

Main/Hair-Trigger Temper - Television Tropes & Idioms

Here is what some splinters are dealing with and it is goes all the way back to WCG and some of the men who also rose to the "top" of ministry and never could either take counsel or resist dis-membering those who got in their way.  It is also very possible that some of our more energetic and not to be toyed with Biblical characters also suffered from such personality disorders which was viewed back then as both a form of better contact with God and obedience to the voices in their heads. I personally believe the Apostle Paul suffered from some form of personality disorder or mental illness such as schizophrenia or temporal lobe epilepsy depending on who you read.  It is possible as well he was a repressed gay man in a culture where you simply never let on and did not practice it. Many of Paul's self deprecating statements and confessions of not being able to do what he should and stop doing what he should not do, along with an undefined thorn in the flesh could lead to this kind of conclusion.  He wants to say something but never quite does.

While not unknown qualities listed from time to time on the Banned HWA site, here is another reminder of the behaviors common to bullying adults and narcissists.

The following is the most comprehensive list of narcissistic and bullying traits available and covers just about everything one would run into when dealing with this type of human being.  Of course there are reasons why people become this way but our first concern here is that when they become adults and when they place themselves, usually at the expense of others and climbing on the bodies of those who got in their way, YOU need to know it when you see it to protect yourself and your loved ones.  These men and women can hide VERY WELL in MINISTRY.  Where in a business or government setting these folk are openly known as people not to be toyed with in their lofty positions, in MINISTRY their quirky and bullying ways SEEM like a form of OBEDIENCE to the "Laws of God" and a DRIVE that is Spirit lead by that God to to the WORK of a God.
Frankly they seem like a lot of Biblical characters and that has to be good right?

I know these traits will sound very familiar in their reality in some of the more drama ridden and one man run Churches of God Slivers.

✦    A sense of superiority places them above others
✦    Must be the center of attention, constantly seeking approval, acknowledgment, kudos, accolades, praise
✦    Act like they are the lead character in all things in life
✦    Dominate conversations because they believe they have the only worthwhile things to say
✦    Want others to give into their demands, request for favors, and put their needs first
✦    Have inflated egos, inflated sense of entitlement, inflated sense of importance, inflated need to be center stage
✦    Envious of other people’s accomplishments and will steal, lie, or sabotage others to get attention back to them
✦    Envious of other people’s possessions, they will put such ownership down or minimize it to make themselves look more noble
✦    Search for constant approval and praise to reinforce their false grandiose sense of self, they’re “on- stage,” dominating the conversation, often exaggerating their importance
✦    (Since the self is so fragile — an ever crumbling construction of their ego) — use power, money, status, looks, supposed past glories (or supposed future glories) to boost their image
✦    See criticism as baseless attacks or betrayal and countered with cold-shoulder anger or rage or chilly stares or verbal attack.
✦    Can never accept blame. Others are always to blame.
✦    Feel being center of attention is good, right, and proper
✦    Have a grandiose sense of self-importance
✦   Think they are special, God-touched, or privileged
✦    Think they can only be understood by other special or high-status people
✦    Have unreasonable expectation of favorable treatment
✦    Believe they are beyond the rules. Laws do not apply to them and remorse is only felt when someone catches and confronts them.

However they are upset over any inconveniences they suffer as a result of being busted. They believe they have the right to do what ever it takes to get short term gratification without suffering any consequences.” ~Lynne Namka

TYPICAL WAYS OPERATING OR REACTIONS (blaming, drama storms, etc.)

✦
High maintenance because they need your attention, praise, and deference
✦    Fake sweetness, honor, and good intentions, but deprive them of something they want and look out as they reveal their true selves.
✦    Express grand, exciting plans, but rarely can make them happen
✦    Blame others rather than take personal responsibility
✦    Lack of empathy colors everything they do.
✦    May say, “How are you?” when you meet, but they are not interested
✦    Their blame-shifting creates defensiveness. Then they belittle the defensiveness: “Why are you so angry?”
✦    Since they shift blame so well & seamlessly, your guilt/insecurity issues stay raw and over-sensitive.
✦    Lend you a hand up, then subtlety cut off at the knees to keep you indebted & coming back.
Where Are They? Wednesdays: Joe Pesci :

✦    If you point out an error they made, they go into defensive mode counter any such notion with anger, venting, rage, cold-shoulder, or withdraw
✦    Give you a metaphorical rug & then keep pulling it out from under you
✦    They are: blowhards, braggarts, blusterers, brow-beaters, bullies, big-headed, and ultimately bogus.
✦    Help you gain certain skills/info/connections, but then forever make you feel beholden to them.
✦    Extremely skilled at making anyone under their influence crave their approval.
✦    Make you feel special & then emotional distance themselves in ways that keep you unsure of yourself.
✦    Use a judgmental “you’re OK”/”you’re not OK” yo-yoing to keep you off-balance & “blameworthy.”
✦    Groom people via manipulation (charm/rage combo) to sell their reality/rationalizations to others.
✦    Virtually all of their ideas or ways of behaving in a given situation are taken from others, people they know and perhaps think of as an authority.
✦    Their sense of self-importance and lack of empathy means that they will often interrupt the conversations of others.
✦    Expect others to do mundane things, since they feel too important to do them
✦    Constantly use of “I”, “me,” and “my” when they talk.
✦    Very rarely talk about their inner life, memories and dreams, for example.
✦    Lie, using subterfuge and deception as tools
✦    Are stuck in one level of maturity where growth is not an option
✦    Only have eyes for “me, myself, and I” instead of “we”
✦    Don’t understand empathy, except to fake it as a tool
✦    Play “Give to get” by being nice or helpful only to expect reciprocation
✦    Put on the air of “having it all together” and will not readily admit failure or weakness
✦    Jump to defensive mode readily and frequently
✦    May apologize, but it doesn’t mean a real change in behavior
✦    Run from their own problems rather than tackling them
✦    Demand your trust rather than being transparent and earning it
✦    See you as extensions of themselves and resist your freedom
✦    Create stories, euphemisms, sayings, definitions, rules they hold up as Truth. Their world is false.
✦    Must talk about themselves & be in control. They want you to just be an ego-stroking entity for them.
✦    Find personality weaknesses & exploit them as easily as you & I ride a bicycle.
✦    Will rarely listen to or respect your “No”
✦    Take advantage of others to reach his or her own goals
✦    Appear tough-minded or unemotional
✦    React to criticism with anger, blame-shifting, shaming or humiliating others
✦    Fail to recognize people’s emotions and feelings
✦    Exaggerate achievements, personal history or talents
✦    Are unpredictable in mood and behavior
✦    Become aggressive, hostile, verbally vicious, or withdraws when threatened
✦    Can vocalize regret for a short time when found out, but soon rationalizes it away
✦    Appearance is important, so primping or fastidiousness is common
✦    Withdraw or a cold shoulder is used as a tool to make you do what they want
✦    Rationalize everything to make sure they always come out on top
✦    Will steal an idea, quote, lesson plan, piece of wisdom — call it their own
✦    Groom underlings and create organizational or business environments to suit their need for ego stroking
“Crazymakers thrive on drama, and melodrama requires a sense of impending doom. Everything is an emergency, a deadline, a matter of life and death, or something they will get to eventually. Read ‘never’ … Nearly any situation can be cast as melodrama to support a crazymaker’s plot lines …
  • “A crazymaker is someone who makes you crazy by constantly stirring up storms.
  • “‘Normal’ doesn’t serve their need for power.
  • “Everything is always their problem, but nothing is their fault.”

This is serious stuff folks and it IS a problem with in the personalities of the few who are the most decried for their strange, weird and ridiculous rules and behaviors for those who seem bent on sitting before them every Sabbath believing every word they can come up with and every title they can bless themselves with.

So what can YOU do?  What steps can you take to protect yourself and family from such people and their behaviors?  Realize it is much more difficult to resist, confront and put up boundaries between you and a minister type because it seems the minister has the weight and backing of the entire BIBLE behind him.  He can show you dozens of scriptures where the "Men of God" were exactly the same way and thus imply that his behaviors are GOD behaviors or being just like Abraham, Moses or Paul.  He may be right but not for the reasons he thinks.   Resist anyway.

A couple examples of Diehl family ministerial resistance.  A certain not to be named current COG minister of the Joshua type was my family pastor for a few short years.  In Spokesman Club this minister was chiding the men for not learning their scripture cards and knowing them well.  My dad raised his hand and pointed out that the men generally had five day a week jobs and family and did not have the time the minister may have had to devote to memorizing scripture cards.  Uh oh....the Joshua like minister told my dad he would talk to him outside during the break.  My dad said "no you won't."   LOL.  Love ya dad!

On another occasion, this Joshua type minister was informing my recently Deacon ordained brother in law , done so by the new minister that replaced the Joshua type minister, that had he thought my brother in law was deacon material HE would have ordained him when he was his pastor.  Get ready....my brother in law looked at the Josh and said..."well ___________, (Josh), if I didn't think you had shit for brains, I'd care what you thought."   Excellent!   Josh went to the new minister but got nowhere.  The new minister was Leslie Schmedes whom everyone just loved and was a kind and gentle spirit.

If you are going to stay, pay, pray and obey with such a man as this at the helm of your version of the One True Church at least take some advice on dealing with such men in your church lives.

  •  Assess the relationship
If “the bully” is someone you call a friend, you must reassess the relationship and why you are in it.   If you are being bullied by anyone within your definition of family or friends, seek help to remove yourself from the relationship
  • Ignore “the bully”
Remember, you will not change another’s actions, only your reactions to them.  Keep in mind you are able to be empathic.  Understand that “the bully” is acting out of their own insecurities, fear and pain.  It is not about you.  It is about them.
  • Do not enable “the bully”
Set those boundaries and limits.  Be clear, calm and firm.  State the behavior you do not like and state what is expected instead.  Remember, “the bully” will typically target people who do not stand up to him/her.
  • Be careful
Be sure to monitor “the bully’ once you have defined boundaries.  Often, this setting such limits and stating your disapproval can escalate the bully.  Think about the young child who has a cookie each day after school.  Suddenly you give him a carrot.  What happens?  Tantrums.  Whenever we set boundaries with any dysfunctional relationship in our lives, the person may react badly.  If “the bully” physically threatens you in any manner, seek help and report this to the authorities immediately.  Remember, you are dealing with an emotionally challenged person who lacks social skills and impulse control.

Secretary of State John Kerry and Church of God Leaders Say: "this little thing called the Internet ... makes it much harder to govern."

I had to laugh at the comment made by Secretary of State John Kerry yesterday while in Brazil.  He claims that "...the Internet has made it difficult to govern."

(CNSNews.com) - Speaking to State Department personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil, on Tuesday, Secretary of State John Kerry said that "this little thing called the Internet ... makes it much harder to govern." He also said that "ever since the end of the Cold War, forces have been unleashed that were tamped down for centuries by dictators."

"Well, folks," he said, "ever since the end of the Cold War, forces have been unleashed that were tamped down for centuries by dictators, and that was complicated further by this little thing called the internet and the ability of people everywhere to communicate instantaneously and to have more information coming at them in one day than most people can process in months or a year." John Kerry: 'This Little Thing Called the Internet ... Makes It Much Harder to Govern'
This is the exact same thing that we have been saying for years here.  The Internet is what helped bring down the Church of God.  The Church of God has never recovered and never will.  Now  being held accountable, it struggles to survive.  Hundreds of COG members are leaving COG's every year.  The membership drain cannot be stopped.

It wasn't long after HWA's death that various newsgroups and chats started discussing the changes creeping into the Worldwide Church of God.  As computers began to proliferated by the early 1990's the stream of information could not be stopped.

Church leaders no longer had a strangle hold on its members.  The WCG effectively used the Internet to get the word out about the changes coming down the line.  The Good News Grapevine was filled with those who appreciated the changes. Other Internet sites and private mailings helped the Global Church of God and UCG form.

For several years the WCG AOL chat room was a great disseminator of change and accountability, until one snarky woman who worships HWA and all things Armstrong kept complaining to AOL that everyone posting there were liars.  AOL finally shut it down and eventually AOL shut down the other COG as well.  But even she was not able to stop the juggernaut steam rolling ahead.

Other groups and message boards quickly popped up.  The Ambassador Report went online.  The Painful Truth started to tear down the facade of a perfect Church of God.  Gavin Rumney's Ambassador Watch made mincemeat of the Church of God's.  The list of Internet sites now critical of the COG's continues to grow daily.

This is not something unique to Armstrongite groups.  The Jehovah's Witnesses are also facing huge problems in controlling the information stream against them. Why the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses FEARS the Internet!  The Mormons too, Mormon Church Admitting the Internet is Hurting Retention of Members

Yes, the Internet has made it more difficult for oppressive governments to govern and the Internet has made it hard for oppressive Church of God's to function.  And the people said, "AMEN!"

James Malm: My 'god' Might Love You If You Do Not Sin After You Are Baptized

James Malm is acting just like Rod Meredith and Dave Pack.  Both of these fools believe they have committed no major sin since they were baptized.

Malm assumes that once a person is baptized and IF they do not sin then his god will be pleased with them.  There is no IF in the factor.  If you are a Christian you will sin, there is no way around it.  The difference between a person tied to the Old Testament laws and a new covenant Christan is that righteousness is already imputed upon us.  That is the entire point of justification by faith.

We are told in the scriptures that those who the Father calls to the Son, may enter a New Covenant through wholehearted repentance form sin [rebelling against the word of God] and a baptismal washing away of past sin and a commitment to sin no more.

If we have been Called Out by the Father and have responded positively to that call with sincere repentance of breaking the word of God and if we commit to sin no more in baptism; then the Eternal will write his law on our hearts and in our minds.

The Father has indeed been Calling Out many over the past six thousand years, and will yet extend this New Covenant to all Israel and to all flesh by grafting all flesh into a spiritual Israel.

James Malm, the offical legalistic bullshitter of Armstrongsim is back today telling men in his cult that while it is not required they perhaps should be wearing blue and white tassels on their garments as they pray.

A modern example of a Karaite Tzitzit

God commanded only a ribbon of blue on the corners of the garments; this intricate braid is conceived by men.

Because people in the west no longer wear the same kind of clothes as were worn in the ancient Middle East; this is a kind of belt worn around the trousers instead of a blue ribbon at each of the four corners of a square mantle.

To our great sorrow and the great sorrow of Israel; they still continually turned and rebelled against God and did not look to tis reminder of the law of their God.  All the history of their many rebellions and overspreading if iniquities has been recorded for our instruction, that we might learn from their example to seek out and learn the whole word of God to keep it in enthusiastic zeal.

Yet we, in spite of having this record for our enlightenment and in spite of having the holy spirit of God; have also rebelled and turned away form zeal to learn and keep the commandments of God.  We shall therefore be corrected in bitter tribulation that we might learn to follow the Lamb withersoever he goeth and not to follow our idols of men away from zeal to learn and keep the word of God.

After the man forgot the Sabbath and gathered firewood polluting the Sabbath that he must be killed; God then gave the people a reminder that if they looked upon it they would be reminded of the commandments of God and if they do them they should live in them.

Today the Called Out  have been given a different reminder, which is the holy spirit of Christ; and the completed whole word of God.

This is commanded of all Israel, which includes BOTH men and women.  It is a commandment to be observed throughout their generations [as long as the Mosaic Covenant lasted].  The Mosaic Covenant ended with the death of the Husband of Israel, Jesus Christ.

Yes, Jesus wore the Tzitzit  even though he was filled with the holy spirit, in order to keep the Mosaic Covenant  perfectly; because he had not yet died ending the Mosaic Covenant, and had not yet been resurrected to become the High Priest of a New and better Covenant.

The fringe represents the gift of the holy spirit, and  I would not insist that the blue fringe is essential today, if we are already in the New Covenant and already have God’s spirit.

However the fringe is certainly lawful and desirable.  It is highly likely that this will be required like circumcision, in the coming Kingdom of God and  I would never object to anyone who choses to wear one.

I continue to be fascinated and mesmerized by footage of the tsunami that hit Japan two years ago.
It shows how quick ordinary life can change in a matter of minutes.

Oh, but I fail to remember this is punishment dished out by Bob Theil's god because the Japanese people are not TRUE Christans and members of the Continuing Ed Church of God.
Some day I will learn that.

Armstrongism's "god" is a punitive god who relishes the idea of weeding out the chafe from the COG's midst.

According to the  COGEIM, the Feast will be here soon where members will hear one glorious sermon after another.  Then, when the Feast is over, their god will start sorely testing the members to see how much they listened during the services.  God has to weed out and punish those who fail to heed the words of the feast speakers.

"...following the Feast God begins his testing period. He digs deeply into our lives to determine how much we have absorbed from the intense teaching and training we have been blessed to receive at His great Feast. So, yes, the trials begin, and before He is done trying us, He and we will know how much progress we have really made in our conversion.

One of the big questions we come home to answer is, do we really BELIEVE what we have been taught? When I capitalize the word believe, I do so to emphasize the idea that many believe what is said in the Bible, but, unfortunately, they do not live it. That is, they say they believe, and they think they do, but when crunch time comes, they find what they were taught is not manifesting itself in their thoughts and actions. Unfortunately, old habits, old thought patterns, and opposing attitudes die hard.

That’s why we need this ensuing time of trial and testing—so that we can be different from that. We need those challenges that make us work hard using God’s Spirit so that we can make God’s way an integral part of our lives. In that way we can arrive at the place where our lives are congruent—that is, we believe, we act in accordance with our beliefs; and we are, in fact, what we believe. If that formula is working in our lives, then we really are becoming like Jesus Christ, and that is our ultimate goal."
If I went to a Feast site and had that kind of bullshit hanging over my shoulders then why would I go in the first place?

The Apostle's New Clothes

Dennis says "I'm just sayin'..."

"Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. 4The angel said to those who were standing before him, "Take off his filthy clothes."
Then he said to Joshua, "See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put rich garments on you."

My all time favorite, with a bite, childhood story is Hans Christian Anderson's, The Emperor's New Clothes.   In the 19th Century, Thomas H Huxley also noted in a similar way as Anderson, that it took the simplicity of a child to see through the smoke and mirrors of adult illusions and delusions.

“Sit down before fact as a little child, be prepared to give up every preconceived notion, follow humbly wherever and to whatever abysses nature leads, or you shall learn nothing”

First a refresher...
Summary of „The Emperor’s New Clothes“
by H.Ch. Andersen

The Emperor’s New Clothes is a story about an emperor who is very fond of his beautiful new clothes. He doesn’t care about anything else in his country but his clothes and he has a different outfit for every hour of the day.

One day two swindlers arrive at the capital of the kingdom. They pretend to the emperor to be weavers and boast to be able to weave the most beautiful cloth he’d ever seen. They explain to the emperor that clothes made of this material have a special effect, only those who are good at their job or are intelligent would be able see them.
The emperor is very enthusiastic about the material and gives a lot of money to the two impostors so that they can start their work right away. They set up two looms and pretend to be working. The news of this magic cloth spreads quickly throughout the whole country.

After a few days the emperor sends his old minister to look after the work but when he gets to the weavers he sees nothing. He is very upset and afraid to be judged as being stupid. So he reports back to the emperor how beautiful the new cloth is. A few days later another man is sent to the weavers to make an inspection of the cloth. This man doesn’t see anything either of course, because there is nothing to see. Afraid of not being good at his job he also pretends to see. He returns to the emperor and tells him everything about the most wonderful cloth he has ever seen.

Now the emperor decides to visit the weavers himself and to see how things are going. Arriving there he naturally sees nothing but because of his fear to be seen as stupid or incapable he tells the weavers how magnificent the cloth is. He even gives them more money, silk and gold and asks when they will have finished their work.

He decides to wear his new clothes at the upcoming great parade. On the day of the parade the weavers meet with the emperor and dress him in his new clothes. They tell him how beautiful he looks and praise the lightness of the material. The Emperor, without seeing anything, praises them for their excellent work. He then goes out to the parade with nothing on but his underwear while all his lords-in-waiting are holding the train of the clothes, or at least pretend that they are holding it.

All the people in the streets and at the windows say: “How magnificent these clothes are!” No one dares to admit that there is nothing to see because then he would either be incapable or else very stupid. But suddenly a little child says: “But he hasn’t got anything on!” After a moment in silence soon everyone is shouting: “He’s really got nothing on!” And because children are innocent and honest, it is clear that the child doesn’t lie.

Even though the emperor realises that they are right, he proudly walks on with his lords-in-waiting, holding the train that isn’t there at all. Only because he is too proud to admit that he has been cheated.

Sound familiar?  Can we see the old familiar story coming alive in the Unification of All the Churches of God by the end of August 2013 as spoken of by Haggai the Prophet and misapplied by The Emperor of the Restored Church of God?  Can we see the Council of 16 in the story of the Emperor's New Clothes.  Can we see ourselves outside the hype as the child simply noting what actually is?

"Ummm....he gots no clothes on..."
As the clock ticks away on the now silent Apostle David C Pack's debut of his new garments, that he has made up in his head, having exchanged them for the filthy garments of having soiled himself wasting time in the Global and  Living Church of God, the children gather for their final view of the finished product.  I don't feel any doubt as to what we will see when the Emperor puts August 2013 behind him.  There will be a shiver of uncomfortable coolness and a terrible temptation on the Emperor's part to find a way to still be nicely clothed but not quite as originally promised.   Will we hear the time worn excuses of "God is mercifully giving the splinter people more time to consider their ways", "I never said 'I' was literally Joshua the High Priest spoken of in Haggai...it's spiritual!", or "You people assumed ......"?    In a short time we shall know.
What you probably won't hear is "I apologize.  I get excited about stuff in the Bible and I was wrong."   Nor will you probably hear, "I don't know what I was thinking and am sorry for going a bit overboard on this."
You can be sure you won't hear...
" remember when I said
...now, if I became deceived, I will never tell you what I'm going to tell you now...I am telling you if I go off into strange ideas, misconduct, rebellion, you name it, don't follow me. I want to tell you that now, because if I start doing that I'm gonna try to get you to follow me! I'm gonna come to you and tell you it doesn't apply, it doesn't mean me, no, no, no, no, no, no, it's OK to follow me because ABCD and XY and Z. Do you understand what I'm saying? Listen to me now, when I tell you don't follow me if I go off into weird ideas, or if I get off into other things that are total absolutely unscriptural conduct, because if I do I'm gonna paint it with a different face and try to get you to follow me. Do you understand what I'm saying brethren? Please remember that, because I promise you that if I become deceived, I'll forget it, and I'll want you to forget it...And I hope you'll remember it well enough to quote it right back to me..." ?
Why did none of you quote this right back to me?  I told you I had the potential of going off the rails.  Oh I know I said  "but brethren, I'm not going anywhere..."  but that was just so I could tell you to watch out for me and be careful of my weird and strange ideas because I have some, but then not really look too closely at me because you're safe and I want to explore my weird and strange ideas. .  I know how I think and I got ya!   You council of 16 are fine friends!  Why did you not say something....?"   (Michael Venish did but that didn't work out so well for him).

Lessons the Church of God learned in August 2013
For the love of God...please stop setting dates for anything!
Maybe we to whom it applies need to reconsider the Rogue Minister Leader Problem
Perhaps continuing theological and pastoral skills classes for ministry should be mandatory and where our minister gets to listen instead of doing all the talking.
If the minister gets bored with his fast running mind, we still need to be sure he doesn't just make shit up to keep us overarching
Perhaps there is something to be learned from the good  ol' boy, who, after hearing Joe Tkach's Big Sandy  screw what we all believe sermon, stood up to lead songs and said..."Well wasn't that the biggest load of crap you ever heard. Let's all rise, take our hymnals and sing to the real God."
Maybe it's time to trade in all this religion, which seems to be what the Emperor tells me all about, where to be, how to be and how much to turn in, for an inner spirituality that has nothing to do with what others think, feel, do or demand.
Maybe I need to do the Huxley..

Narcissistic Dave Pack, the leader of the worlds most superfantabulous Church of God to ever exist since God created Adam and Eve has his own Facebook page.  The headline banner over the picture claims the site is maintained by RCG.

The only thing posted on it are links to Dave bloviating on one irrelevant topic after another.

No one is commenting on his rants except for one person who questioned Dave's logic and a loyal Packite that says this about Dave:  "I have yet to find anyone with as much biblical wisdom as David a truly blessed man of God"

I think this site is a great indication that NO ONE will be jumping ship to his cult by the end of August.

James Malm: Since Adam and Eve Were Married It Was OK To Be Naked

Apostle Malm continues to get some flack about his head coverings for women.  Today he made the comment that Adam and Eve were spouses.  In order to be made "spouses" they have to have been married.  Did God perform a marriage ceremony in the garden of Eden?

An acolyte asks
Since you mentioned to Alex above “let us all wear skirts as well”, I have to ask you if wearing robes & the wearing of veils in public were customs and not a command from God. As we know God left Adam & Eve naked in the garden until sin…so the wearing of a veil is not a command from creation, for example, like the Sabbath.
The apostle responds:
We do not know what the custom was before the flood, we do know the custom in Israel after the flood. Further Eve and Adam were spouses and it is entirely lawful to be naked with ones spouse. God did give them clothes when he sent them out of the Garden Gen 3:21, after which they would have begun to reproduce and it was not proper in God’s eyed that any other than spouses see one another naked.

"So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell:

I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!

I want you to get up right now. Sit up. Go to your windows. Open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!...You've got to say,

I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!

Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first, get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it:

I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

Howard Beale--Network

I grew up in a home that , while very stable and calm.  With a handicapped brother, my parents had a full plate and I knew it.   I have never seen my dad angry until this past year in his 97th year when he got confused and his grief over mom's passing erupted.  He threw a bucket at a window in the home , breaking the window.  Dad has kept a lifetime of anger inside as was our custom.

Expressing anger or emotion was pretty much out.  "We don't say that...."  was a common response when I'd let something loose and over time, I didn't say it anymore.   I packed it in. (Yikes maybe the word "Pack" causes me to react!)  I kept it to myself and the only way you could ever tell I was angry was when I get stone cold quiet and say,  "it's ok...don't worry about it."  Ok, let me rephrase that.

The only way you can tell I AM angry is when.....

When I got some counseling for depression towards the end of my WCG experience, the counselor told me that my humor "tended" to be passive aggressive.  LOL.  I said,  "well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me!  Ya think?"   No...I didn't say that, but I thought it.  He also told me after taking some test of sorts,  "Dennis, you tend to break the rules you disagree with."   That was about all I could take.  I asked him what he did and my first thought as an example to myself at that time was how I treated the "To be played in all the Churches" tapes.  Alas, I could not argue with him on that one.  It's probably why I held (passive aggressively)  my  "Ask and you shall not have.  Do not ask and all things are possible"   approach to some of the snow flakes from heaven that came down to me as minister from on high.  "No more YOU dances because two kids fornicated in New Jersey" was one that I rejected in Kentucky as we had the best Proms in the universe for the kids and even if some of them fornicated, I'm not doing away with it!   Next it would be no more pot lucks because someone farted in Missouri.

Anyway, depression was a part of the mix as minister as the mental habit of "we don't speak up or get angry" was ever a part of my program.  What I was angry with in WCG I ignored, to my harm.  Depression, in my experience, was my tendency to not express myself.  Any anger felt was either felt to be something I had no right to express or the price of doing so would be just too darn high.  In the ministry that was always the case.  I ONCE called Joe Tkach to ask if it was so that Ramona was divorcing HWA as I had heard.  He had to call me back.  I was gone when he did, so he just yelled at my then wife to "tell Dennis to put a lid on it!!!!"   Of course, it was a valid question and she did divorce him.  I learned from that one.   The Tkaches taught me that when they told me "No" it meant "Yes" and "Yes" meant "No" 100% of the time.

Denial of what I was experiencing in WCG was also a close ally to the repressed anger.  I recall knowing that 60 Minutes was going to do it's hit on the WCG and it was not a little hard to take since I had not come into ministry for this bullshit.  I went visiting all day Sunday and made it so I was not home when it aired.  However, once home, the phone rang and rang.  I thought a lot about Dennis the Paleontologist that never was and not minister I seemed stuck with in an organization that seemed so right when I discovered it and was to be nothing but drama and a life lesson for me at Earth School as I now call it.

I  started to come out of the never say what you are actually thinking stage when I even surprised myself  confronting Gerald Waterhouse, whose visits made me nuts as he caused more problems than he solved, with "what are you going to say when HWA dies?"

I have mentioned this before of course, but when he said, "I'll believe it after three days and three nights," and felt my brain click off channel just a bit more on the whole WCG thing, I knew I had crossed a line in expressing myself.  I also got kicked under the table.

All this to say, it is not healthy, and was not for me to repress what I felt, or saw or thought all the times I found myself at odds mentally, emotionally and spiritually with those who had my ministry in their hands.  I also learned that when you repress anger and feel your own views are somehow invalid or not important to the powers that be, you can turn to things for comfort that don't actually help.  Hindsight is great.  It is also painful.  If you wish to push my last button, and there have been times where it has occurred here on Banned with the generic condemnations of "those ministurds", as if all men in ministry were shit, well...just say that.  LOL.   I got a bit irritated at being called a "made man" a few days ago as if I was mafioso, but I took it in context and calmed down.  Judgments like that simply remind me of what I already consider big life decision mistakes that I will pay for to the end.  I already am aware of it and crass reminders are like sticking pins in my eyes. I may have passive aggressive but I probably have found active aggressive at this stage too.

More people with Neanderthal qualities

In my heart and soul, I'd be happy just to be a quiet, meditative Buddhist type in the Western mode.  I'd like to be able to simply accept all that is and say "Is that so..." to all that is yet to come in life without drama or caring about it.  I don't read the Bible for encouragement near as much as I watch the cosmology videos on youtube. That gives me perspective and fits the science done well lover in me.  Once when by myself in the museum in Jerusalem where all the Biblical artifacts I had ever seen on TV, in Biblical Archaeology Magazine or in National Geographic were on display, I made a turn down a small hall of glass cases with the original Neanderthal skulls from Mt Carmel I had also seen all my life in books.  The Bible artifacts were interesting.  But I stood alone inches away from whoever they were and had tears streaming down my cheeks in emotion.  It was a revelation to me as well.  I simply was overwhelmed, not with Bible stuff, but with human origins for real.  It's why when I read of some COG type harkening back to what Adam and Eve did or didn't do I get a bit passive aggressive.

To the point.  I KNOW there have to be PCG and RCG members and ministers who have to be going through the same thing.  You can't possibly agree with all your great yet theologically ignorant and self centered leaders believe about themselves, their work and your place in it.  Yet I know you won't speak up.  You feel you don't have a right to or the price will be too high.  Only the second reason is true if you work for the man or don't want to get thrown out of the one true church on earth, which of course, it is not but you don't know that yet.  Add to this the need not to let you "good friends" down, none of whom you would have met had it not been for church, and you are stuck until it becomes so evident that you simply can't put up with it anymore.

The time when you won't put up with it anymore is coming.  For Dave Pack and his Restored Church, it is even at the doors.

V for Vendetta Televised ...

So give yourself permission "if you know what I know and feel what I feel" as spoken so well in by the Guy Fawkes character in "V",  to speak up when you know in your soul that what you are hearing from your poorly trained and undisciplined in their theological thinking and ego centric in their title taking ministry comes up with for you to swallow.  No more sitting on the outside but standing up on the inside.  Make the inside match the outside before it gets much more painful.

The mental, emotional and spiritual life you save may be your own and your kids will praise you in the gates.

UPDATED: Gerald Flurry Fails To Buy A Large Portion of Bricket Wood Campus

It seems that Flurry was not able to buy as much of the old Ambassador College Campus in Bricket Wood, St Albans England as he wanted too.  Other people were bidding on the property also, and they won!  Poor Gerald, so much Herbert Armstrong merchandise to buy up and no money to do it with!  He just cannot ever reach the pinnacle of success that Herbert Armstrong was able to accomplish.  Poor Gerald still remains the laughing stock of the Church of God for his idolatrous worship of Herbert Armstrong.

HSBC training site set to be used for 160 new homes AFTER months of fine-tuning, a planning application to build more than 160 homes on the former HSBC training centre site in Bricket Wood has been submitted to St Albans district council. Developers St Congar Land intend to turn the 185-acre site in Smug Oak Lane into 167 new homes and convert the existing New Lodge and Hanstead House into a further eight dwellings. The project, to be named Hanstead Park, would be focused on the areas of land that have already been developed, and much of the existing high quality trees would be retained or supplemented. St Congar Land director Steve Taylor said: “We’re delighted to be submitting this proposed scheme for the much needed redevelopment of the former HSBC site. “Future residents of Hanstead Park will enjoy a range of housing types, surrounded by stunning landscaping that is in keeping with the area.” Mr Taylor added: “St Congar Land would like to thank the local residents for their feedback following the public exhibition in September and subsequent meetings. “We were encouraged by the high turnout and this vital engagement has allowed proposals for the site to be shaped with sensitivity to the surrounding area and the needs of local residents.”  The Hert's Advertiser
St. Conger's plans for the former campus are here:  Hanstead Park

Poor Gerald also was never able to buy up the old Imperial Schools either.  It is the local Community Hall and been used by UCG for many years as their church facility.

Here is one of the buildings that Gerald was after.  Locals are not too happy he is getting it.  Another American cult in their midst is not that appealing.  Hanstead Estate

Here is our favorite idol worshiper kneeling at what is supposed to be the very rock HWA prayed at over 80 years ago.  Gerald went to great lengths to dig this up and haul it all the way back to Edmond to place on his compound. Whenever Gerald needs strength he goes and sits on the bench staring at the rock asking God why he has never been able to do the same things HWA did.

UPDATE:

The report suggests that Hanstead House is part of the conversion into apartments. As Hanstead was the original college building, he would be gutted, I'm sure, if he didn't get it and maybe wouldn't want anything else. The Japanese gardens surround Hanstead & the mansion housed the library, some offices & originally student accommodation. Dr Rae had his office there and was confronted by a newspaper reporter doing an expose & had a heart attack & died as a result. The reporter left without helping him. The other newer bits of the campus, such as the gym and dorms, are quite a distance from this central "gem." There is also a small private cemetery on the estate with railings around it, built by the original owners. I think there are at least 2 WCG members buried there, one is Mrs Silcox, wife of the Head Gardener & Deacon, Howard Silcox. I think the other was a Dr Bogdanovich, a musician who taught at AC and who's wife taught at Imperial.

James Malm Lets the COG Know What He Will Be Speaking About for 9 Days Straight at His Oregon Feast Site

Here is the topic of the entire Feast of Tabernacles that James Malm and his fledgling group of legalists will be occupied with:

At the 2013 Feast I want to study the Ten Commandments and I am thinking that this week’s material, and the covering of the other laws, statutes and judgments in Leviticus and Numbers, completes the whole Commandments and Law study.

Nine days of listening to Malm harp on and on about the 10 Commandments.  Bloody hell!  Throw me in the Lake of Fire now!

Notice that he makes no mention of Jesus at all.   Malm's foretaste of the Kingdom is one of fists of iron enforcing the 10 Commandments instead of a time of grace and mercy with Jesus Christ.

The UCG is having theri ministerial conference right now. In it's open rekarks Vic Kubik ahd this to say:

After greeting the Council Mr. Kubik commented on the positive bond and lack of tension among the administration and the Council that is such a hallmark of our present circumstance. Such peace and harmony is allowing us much needed time to focus on important items.

Now that the cretins and trouble makers are gone, peace and harmony has arrive.

He outlined the function of the management team that has worked together for the last three years. The team has a seamless relationship that is so beneficial for rebuilding our processes over the past three years. He mentioned that the role of operations manager of Ministerial and Member Services (MMS) has not and will not be filled in the immediate future. Chris Rowland has been a big help administrating MMS along with Roy Holladay overseeing the manpower in the field ministry. Various ones of the management team oversee projects on behalf of the president from international oversight to leadership training to other functions.

We must have a strong priority to keep the peace within the body. We need to continue to monitor conditions and resolve situations that can cause division, and move forward together. Which is more important, our petty grievances or continuing to do God’s work? An old World War II motto in the U.S. shipyards was, “Loose lips sink ships.” Likewise, loose lips that cause division can terribly damage the Church today. We need to seek peace and pursue it.
Hum, what about Vic's loose lips when he was plotting and coniving in the  SOG Dorm 360 along with several others as they sought to rebel against Tkach Sr.?  I guess it was OK to plot and plan while still on WCG payroll so that a smooth transition to another payroll system could be thought out.

What about kicking out WCG members who did not agree with the changes in the year or two it took to plan his church?  The way they found out about these people was through loose lips.  Then they sat around the Hall of Ad and the Library Annex talking about these people and what to do with them.  The loose lips of the staff at Ministerial services was appalling when they were located on the first floor in the Hall of Ad.  Laughing and mocking  members problems and trials was an ordinary experience.

UCG Admits They Have Not Grown As A Church - So Let's Start "Operation Broken Rung!"

The UCG admitted today that their church has not grown over the last several years.  This is a well known fact.  None of the COG's are growing (except for COG7).  All any of them do is poach members from other COG's to increase their numbers.  Worldly pagans are just not interested in their message of law, doom, damnation and death.  All of the COG's still are living in the 1950-1980's.  They cannot for some reason repackage their messages.  They cannot move into the 21st century and find relevance with humanity.

We have a tremendous library of literature, but the problem is that we have not grown in membership. We must have a peaceful environment before we can expect growth, but we must also find ways to progressively engage those who learn about God’s truth through our efforts. Our present ladder of involvement from first contact to baptized member has some broken rungs on it. Call it “Operation Broken Rung,” but we must fix that progression of engaging to teaching to converting those new who God is calling.

Bob Thiel Copies Another COG Book Because He Can't Come Up With Anything Original and Then Promptly Sells It Members

Bob Thiel, the non-ordained self-appointed Chief Overseer of the Continuing Ed Church of God, Mayan authority and self-appointed world renown scholar on prophecy, has announced that his splinter personality cult has a new Bible Hymnal. Don't expect originality here.  Same old songs from from 1974 and Ross Jutsum.  Just another copycat.

Since its formation on December 28, 2012, the Continuing Church of God has used the 1974 edition of The Bible Hymnal of the old Worldwide Church of God (WCG) for its song book and made it available online.  But it was always our goal to produce additional song books by the Feast of Tabernacles for 2013.

Several have asked if other hymns, such as those composed by Dr. Ross Jutsum, could go into the new hymnal.  So, after a series of attempted, and finally successful, contacts, an arrangement between the the Continuing Church of God and Nazarene Books with Dr. Jutsum was agreed to and finalized last week.  So certain additional hymns from Dr. Justum were added to the song book.   The late Herbert W. Armstrong had long ago approved the hymns by Dr. Jutsum for use in WCG church services.  Many will recall such titles by Dr. Jutsum as By This Shall All Men Know, How Good and How Pleasant, and It Won’t Be Long Now.

So, the new 2013 hymnal of the Continuing Church of God consists of all the hymns, etc. that were in the 1974 edition of The Bible Hymnal of the old Worldwide Church of God, plus 17 additional pages added after them for the additional ten hymns that were composed by Dr. Jutsum.  The front and back covers were changed (the front cover shows the remains of what could be the oldest Christian worship building; see also Church of God on Jerusalem’s Western Hill).
Bob is selling this magnificent earth-shattering book on Amazon through his book publishing front that seeks to be a legitimate source for books in the world's eye.

Now, I, through Nazarene Book, have arranged to make the paperback edition of The Bible Hymnal via Amazon.   The Continuing Church of God is not selling the book, but Nazarene Books via Amazon is.  The list price for The Bible Hymnal is $8.99, but Amazon is temporarily selling it for $8.54.  Since Amazon has recently been selling used 1974 editions of The Bible Hymnal of the old Worldwide Church of God (WCG) for USD$22.73, and since the new version of The Bible Hymnal contains all the same unedited hymns, etc. that the 1974 edition contains (plus more), some looking for a COG hymnal may find it a bargain.

Leon Sexton: Church of God In Burma: Death, Sin and Apostasy Are Hurting My Spiritual Babies

Leon Sexton has spent several decades preaching the gospel of Herbert Armstrong and a "strong hand from someplace" to the Thai, Burmese and other nationalities of that area.  Sexton has given the impression over the decades that he alone is the authority on that region and what should be preached.

Apparently not enough COG members are flocking to the region and now apostates who actually speak about Jesus are disturbing his "spiritual babies."  With that kind of condescension directed towards these people it is no wonder they are becoming disillusioned.

The idea that he calls the Gospel message a "perversion of doctrine" shows what a shallow little man he is.  It is the doctrine of a man that he is concerned about, and not the doctrine of salvation and justification by grace.   Law vs. grace, where in Armstrongism rules trump and are more important.

The Church of God in Burma has been devastated by the loss of pastors due to death, sin, and apostasy. More and more are coming to Jesus Christ, but we have no pastors to feed and protect them. Without spiritual food, the newly called wither and die spiritually. There are also the wolves that lurk about, hoping to pounce on unsuspecting new spiritual babes who are not strong in grace and knowledge. These would-be teachers hide in the shadows and periphery of a congregation until some unsuspecting weak new member—or even an old, tired member—comes along; and then they pounce with false accusations of others and/or perversion of doctrine. If a congregation has strong pastoral leadership in place, these false wanna-be ministers will be exposed for what they really are.
