Those in Australia need to know (as do those in South Africa and most international locations) that their ‘church’ is not really an extension of the UCG in the USA — instead they are what Cincinnati calls the “LifeNets” churches –they are not funded by UCG any longer, have to be self-sufficient, and Kubik travels to them on LifeNets funds, not UCG money. This is why the moment the “airy” sermon is over, Kubik launches into a 45-minute LifeNets presentation to the congregation. Legally he has to do this because he is on LifeNets money which is being audited. The members are not in a Church, they are just laborers in a commercial LifeNets exercise, even thought they don’t know it. Council members who did not want Kubik as president (took the most re-balloting ever ) finally acquiesced over the information that it would save UCG money since Kubik was the only only one who could travel internationally on another budget (namely his private Corporation Sole LifeNets, which has made him the wealthiest Council member, and which he built in competition with the Good Works program, since that one wasn’t going to earn him anything personally). 

And yes, we are all supposed to give up our various ‘cultural backgrounds’ to put on the culture of Christ, but this man Kubik still can’t disconnect himself from a Ukrainian village he has never really lived in, now bending the truth to accommodate a small Pentecostal and trinitarian group there that clearly for over 20 years has shown no interest in joining with UCG. But,like the populism of Brexit and Trump, it’s beginning to all blow up: we have what we call the “parking lot church” in our congregation — it’s about what is said when everyone goes to their cars so the minister can’t hear them, and it’s about 50% of the congregation now that meets this way — outside. The moment someone stands up with some integrity and calls UCG out on all of this, the following is in place and ready to move.

When I was a student in Rod's class in Pasadena in 1967 I heard him say that it it OK to lie to protect the church or "the work". He suggested that one could make an untrue statement and then (in your head) add something to the statement or amend it in some way that would make it true. So, I would not believe anything that comes out of Rod's mouth on the witness stand because you don't know what he is blathering inside his own mind. He is simply not credible in any circumstances.

Important Questionnaire

A crucial series of questions present themselves before every shepherd of any rank. As you read, think hard—very, very hard!—about your original calling to serve in one or more offices under the sure guidance and direction of Christ as Head of His Church. Ask yourself each difficult question today’s circumstances require you to answer. Do not permit yourself to look away from hard realities now confronting all of God’s ­people.

In every age of His Church, Christ’s sheep have needed shepherds. Those with special leadership training and experience from the past will be held accountable in a greater way than all others (Jms. 3:1-2). Dereliction of duty by those “to whom much was given” will mean that “much will be required” of them some day (Luke 12:48). Take a deep breath and think of yourself standing before the “judgment seat” of Christ (II Cor. 5:10). You will be forced to give answers to HIM then if you are unwilling to demand them of YOURSELF ­now.

The millions constituting the physical remnant of modern Israel returning from captivity are foretold to come “weeping and loathing themselves” for having rejected God’s Way (Jer. 50:4-5; Ezek. 6:8-9). What about the spiritual remnant, who once knew that Way, but largely left it? Will/does this describe you? Read the above verses, and then read the following questions slowly, carefully and prayerfully. They are the biggest way that the ministry should “consider their ways.” Consider writing out the answers:

(1) Retirement—Mr. Armstrong taught that retirement is not an option for a true minister.

• Did you retire? If so, when, and why did you think yourself an exception?

(2) Non-Career—Mr. Armstrong taught that “going non-career” is not an option for a true minister.

• Did you do this? If so, why did you think yourself an exception?

(3) Established Doctrine and Tradition

• In what doctrines or traditions do you believe Mr. Armstrong “got it wrong”? (Include all areas—be specific.)

 (4) Did you actively resist false doctrine in your ministry?—or give safe sermons where you disagreed? (Be specific.)

• During the liberal years of the 1970s?
• In the WCG in the late 1980s and early 90s?
• In your splinter or splinters?

(5) On each doctrine where you came to agree with God’s enemies—either Joe Tkach, those who assisted his destruction or your splinter leader—why did you agree?

(6) Why should you still be considered for the ministry in God’s Church?

Anyone ever hear of the story which circulated about a situation at a feast site where a toilet was plugged up in the mens' restroom and several men were standing around, discussing how to unplug it? The story goes that this set of circumstances arose and some stranger stepped out from behind the group and reached down inside the toilet bowl and unclogged it with his hand. Then, he left the bathroom. Somebody tried to follow him, and when he stepped outside the restroom door, the stranger was totally vanished. So, the story got around that angel stepped in to save the day at the feast, and that other angels were among us, but we couldn't see them. Believe it or not, our congregational Super Hero actually performed a copy-cat act to this story! One sabbath not too long after that story first circulated, we had a clogged toilet in the ladies restroom at our local church meeting hall. When the ladies reported it to "Mr.Gung Ho," he had to replicate the angel in the story, and so he went in there and reached down and unclogged that toilet with his hand. He was the same Super Hero who studied Arabic so that when WCG fled to the place of safety, he'd be able to communicate with the locals in their native tongue and serve as a go-between between us and them.

Just sayin...  Ken Ham’s Ark Encounter Is Child Abuse

Dr. Roy Hoffman of the Israel New moon Society saw the new moon this evening.  He is a highly experienced and skilled observer and had to first find the very faint moon by binoculars, then once the moon was located he could see it with his naked eyes and did manage to get a faint picture.  He was the only searcher who did see the new moon.  

On the grounds that: 

1.  Only one person saw the first light of the new moon, even though he was able to take a faint picture [cameras not being available during the Temple period]

2.   and  that even he, a highly experienced expert, needed binoculars [binoculars were not available during the Temple period or before] to find the faint moon before he could see it by naked eye: 

I find that a new moon would NOT have been declared for this evening during Temple times.

Matthew 11:30The Message (MSG)28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Other parts of the Bible describe what this “mystery of iniquity” was. Dozens, even hundreds, of top leaders in God’s Church were committing iniquity and plotting to fundamentally transform the Church—yet it was a mystery. It stayed underground and dared not show itself. Why? Because of “he who now restrains.” That sinister force was completely restrained and held in check by one man! 

Once God took that man out of the way, nothing was left to hold back this widespread evil influence. It took over and destroyed God’s Church. 

Speaking of this prophecy in Malachi’s Message, Gerald Flurry wrote, “There have always been people in God’s Church whom Satan can use unless they are controlled. … Christ used Paul to hold back this satanic force in his day. … It is a ‘mystery of iniquity’ because it was hidden. It dared not show itself because of ‘he’ who restrained it. He was a man who was seen and whose authority was feared—Herbert W. Armstrong.” 

This shows how determined Satan is to infiltrate and destroy God’s Church. It reveals that people in God’s own Church—which could include any one of us—can be used by Satan if not controlled by God and God’s government. It also reveals the need for vigilance and for restraining evil!

Men, this danger also exists in our lives, in our relationships, in our families, in our work and in our era of God’s Church. Realize that this is a core element of biblical manhood: A godly man restrains Satan’s influence!

How did Herbert W. Armstrong restrain? He restrained through his example, for sure, but he also restrained through direct confrontation. He had a God-commissioned office, he had authority, and he used it. People knew that and feared it. And through that confrontation, God blocked the volcano of evil that was boiling beneath the surface of His Church. 

We need to develop godly authority. We need to learn how to confront evil. We need to build the courage to restrain Satan’s influence. We need to become men who deal with iniquity with godly boldness. 

In fact, we need to embrace confrontation.

We need to fulfill our manly duty to embrace conflict when God shows us it is necessary. If God is leading us to restrain evil, we should not shy away from confrontation: We should seize the opportunity.

Here is a practical example. In our Pastor General’s Report, we have reprinted an article a few times by Evangelist Stephen Flurry called “Upholding God’s Standard in Dress and Appearance.” One of the subheads is simply: “Confrontation.” It says this: “[U]pholding God’s standard in dress and appearance also means that we—both ministers and wives—must confront problems as they arise. If we shy away from confronting problems—in this case, problems that are visible to all—then our congregation’s standard in appearance will only sink lower.

“A couple years ago, my dad told me that we ministers tend to avoid confrontation whenever possible. ‘But the nature of this Work,’ he said, ‘dictates that we be people who will confront’” (emphasis added). 

In this article to Philadelphia Church of God ministers, Mr. Flurry was not saying that they should bulldoze through the congregation, squashing everything in their path. He was emphasizing the ministers’ duty to uphold God’s law. The nature of God’s Work, of God’s Church, of God’s way of life, demands that we confront! We must be willing to take on problems and stand up to evil! This is an important aspect of the love of God! 

“Open rebuke is better than secret love,” Proverbs 27:5 says. What good is love if it isn’t expressed? It doesn’t benefit anyone. You might feel very loving toward someone, but if you’re not expressing it, it does that person no good. You know what is more beneficial than that? Open rebuke. At least then the person might actually profit from what is said. And sometimes, rebuke can be extremely helpful.

God gives His ministry for this purpose, to help His people overcome evil and become perfect (Ephesians 4:11-13). They address these problems through delivering sermons and Bible studies, through personal counseling, and by stepping in when necessary to point an issue out as it is happening. When God is using a minister to correct some type of sin, it is not a comfortable thing. But that man is a tool for God to pour out His love on us! God is using him to try to help us turn away from things in our lives that are hurting us and toward the godly righteousness that will bring blessings!

But ministers are not the only ones who have this obligation. 

God confronts evil! When Lucifer became wicked and tried to usurp God, God met him head-on and kicked him and his demons out of heaven! Revelation 12:12 shows that this type of confrontation happened not only before the Earth was created (Genesis 1:2), but again in this modern era. In fact, God confined Satan and the demons to this planet on or around the very same day “he who now restrains” was “taken out of the way.” God says woe to you who live on the Earth, because Satan is here among you now! People in God’s Church saw that horrific fact in action. We witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of failing to restrain evil. 

God allows us to live in this woeful state—having Satan cast down among us—for a reason. He wants us to learn to confront evil! 

Clearly, this is not just a job for a minister. Confronting evil is crucial for everyone who follows God! And confronting evil is not restricted to trying to overcome sin in your own mind. In some cases, you have the duty to intervene and confront evil in the lives of your wife, your children, or other members of God’s Family.

Each of us is striving to become like God, and God confronts evil. He tells us over and over in the Bible that we must do the same. “Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works” (Hebrews 10:24). Provoke means to incite or even irritate. That is not comfortable! “If thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother” (Matthew 18; also Luke 17:3). “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness” (Galatians 6:1). Temper criticism with praise; be kind—but still, take action. “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly” (1 Thessalonians 5:14). The English Standard Version renders this, “admonish the idle”—”comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.” 

If you are a father, you must confront your children. Satan is broadcasting non-stop to influence, tempt and even force people into evil, destructive thoughts and actions. He is working hard, constantly fighting the positive influence that God and you are exerting on your child. He is not afraid to confront you! 

If you are not confronting your children, you do not love them! Read Proverbs 13:24; 19:18 and 29:15. God says if you spare the rod—a very direct form of confrontation—you hate your son! If you love him, you will chasten him promptly. The father who loves his child springs into action when he sees evil. 

Our world is dominated by Satan’s influence. Because of this, your children are vulnerable—perhaps already suffering from serious sins. Children everywhere languish under parents who tackle those evil influences with insufficient force, or ignore them altogether.

If you are a husband, you cannot fear confronting your wife. The man who fears confrontation will one day realize that his wife is actually the leader of his home. Confronting your wife is not the same as confronting your child. She is an adult; she is your bride; she is an heir together with you. But it is the same in the sense that in both cases, you should confront it! You should exercise your authority to lead your family away from harm. You should restrain iniquity. 

When you confront someone, whether your brother, your wife or your child, be slow to wrath (James 1:19-20). Mr. Flurry writes in his booklet on James, “The wrath of man contains none of God’s righteousness. So that means we must always let God’s righteousness direct our anger, or we will make many mistakes. We absolutely must rule our emotions.” Your impatience, your frustration, your bad temper is worthless to God! Do not discipline your children with these emotions; they are only destructive. And in general, when you rely on your own human emotion, you are going to make a mistake. 

So yes, godly confrontation must be done the right way, with courage, clarity and humility. Yes, it requires you to eradicate carnal thoughts: pride, frustration, wrong emotion. Yes, it requires you to take personal correction yourself. But do not let the hard work of godly confrontation dissuade you from doing it! It is your duty as a man! Don’t fear the hard work required. Fear the sin, the evil, the suffering that results from neglecting confrontation! Let God use you to restrain that iniquity! It is your critical duty of biblical manhood. Embrace love-motivated confrontation. 

When is the earliest year that the Great Tribulation can?  

Various ones seem to feel that it can begin in 2016 or 2017 or that it already started some time ago. 

Those who believe and understand what the Bible actually teaches realize that the Great Tribulation cannot begin before 2020.

Jesus gave a variety of signs/events that had to happen prior to the start of the Great Tribulation in Matthew 24. Not only have many not happened, a preceding event in Daniel 9:27 involving the confirmation of a seven-year deal still has not happened. Since it did not happen as of July 7, 2016, this means that it is not possible for the Great Tribulation to begin for at least 3 1/2 years (half of a biblically-prophetic week). 

At this instant, unless we see more major conflict in the Middle East between now and the end of the Summer, it is unlikely that the Great Tribulation can begin prior to 2021.

People who claim to be COG, like James Malm and Ronald Weinland, are in error as to timing as they have looked to their own understanding instead of what the Bible teaches. 

It should be noted that leaders in the Living Church of God and/or the United Church of God confirmed to me personally that I was biblically correct on all the above points, despite the fact that their respective churches hold to several of the errors pointed out above. Those who rely too much on a compromised ministry (Ezekiel 34:7-10) to teach them prophecy that is not truly in accordance with scripture need to realize that according to Jesus’ words in Revelation 2 & 3 and Luke 21, only relatively few Christians will be protected from the hour of trial that will come upon the whole world.

This initial process was so intense and so dense by its proximity to itself. We understand this process as the Big Bang or the point of origin of the physical universe. This origin of the universe emanated from God as His product using the relativity of the spiritual creation, which is not seen (Heb. 1-3). The things that are seen are temporal. The things that are unseen are eternal (2Cor. 4:18). Countless ages later, punier minds would look back and see this process and determine by mathematics what they would call phase-space-volume selection. They would know that the origin of the physical universe had to be from one point only and no other. They would determine numerically that this phase-space-volume was 10 to the 10^th power to the 123^rd power. This number was so big it could not be written down in the normal way, even by putting a zero on all sub-particles of matter in the universe. This merely demonstrates that it could only have been confined to the one place and one place only; namely, the point at which God chose to originate the universe.

From this activity, God became the creator and sustainer of the heavens, the Earth and all things therein (Gen. 1:1; Neh. 9:6; Ps. 124:8; Isa. 40:26,28; 44:24; Acts 14:15; 17:24-25; Rev. 14:7).

The spiritual force used to create this material creation moved at such power and speed that it began the expanding universe. It needed to separate sufficiently far enough so that it could reorient itself as atoms and molecules of varying weights and complexity such that solids, liquids and gases became possible. As the matter joined in varying concentrations, so the galaxies were formed. Within the galaxies, matter re-concentrated to a sufficient density such that systems were formed and at critical mass they were ignited. This ignition was from nuclear reactions, which released the power of the sub-structure of the spirit within controlled sequences. In the physical beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth (Gen. 1:1).

The sons of God were divided into administrative systems. The universe was divided into four sectors (or quadrants). These were placed under a Being represented as a Living Creature. Each of the sectors was of three systems, with two of the Council to a system. In this way, there were twenty-four Elders in the Council with the four Living Creatures and the first-begotten or prototokos. At this time, the rebellion had not taken place and Azazel was the second anointed one.

The purpose of the physical creation was unfolded as a mystery. The sons of God had to proceed by faith. The capacity of creation was allowed to the sons of God as part of the Council of the Elohim (Gen. 1:26). The sons of God were assembled and sang for joy at the creation of this planet by Eloah. The systems had been placed under Morning Stars as leaders.

Job 38:4-7  "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. ⁵  Who determined its measurements -- surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? ⁶  On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, ⁷  when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (RSV)

The entire universe had been placed under a system of government and order that we see mirrored later in the Tabernacle of the Hebrews (Heb. 8:5). Azazel was made Morning Star or Light Bearer for this planet (Isa. 14:12) and He was made elohim of this planet (2Cor. 4:4). Messiah is the Morning Star or Day Star designated to replace him (Num. 24:17; 2Pet. 1:19; Rev. 2:28; 22:16).

This planet was populated with created beings that were not based on our mammalian system. The Morning Star in charge of this planet produced a life system based on a reptilian system, which appears to have had some remarkable capacities. Intelligent life as we know it is thought by modern science to be only capable within plus or minus two million years of the life of the main star systems. We see from our excavation of the past that humanoids began to appear on this planet quite recently in the life of the system. What we would class as humanoids, as opposed to human-like primates, are very recent. 100,000 years ago the Neanderthals appeared and they were replaced about 40,000 years ago with another system much like ours.

At some stage in this structure, God revealed in part to His sons what the purpose of the physical creation would be. The full mystery was withheld from them and only revealed much later through the Church (1Pet. 1:12). Some of these Beings did not exercise faith in the Father and rebelled. Azazel took one third of the Host in this rebellion. At least until the time of Job, all of the sons of God had access to the Throne of God, and Satan was among them (Job 1:6; 2:1).

The exact nature of the rebellion seems to have involved a devastation of this planet and is probably the intent of the passage in Genesis 1:1-2. The planet had to be refurbished and a man created that could unfold the next sequence of the Plan of God. This was the Adamic creation. This man was in the image of God so that the Spirit could be given to him. The sons of God during this entire phase were not, and could not, be classed as angels. The category did not commence until after the creation of Adam, as until that time there was no need for such a category of being; namely, a messenger. For until such time as there existed a recipient of a message, there could be no messenger.

PCG Told Me to Get Rid of My Mentally Handicapped Son With Cerebral Palsy:

I was told by a minister in PCG to "get rid of" my mentally handicapped son (who also had cerebral palsy) or don't return. He told me to put him in some facility, or if I couldn’t afford that, then take him somewhere that he would not know and abandon him in the mall or somewhere that people were. He said someone would find him and put him away, and that I was to turn and not look back, and just leave him there! I guess you can imagine just about what I told them!!

What helped me the most were people having the same objections and questions that I was having, wondering if these ministers in PCG really have the authority they say they did over us. The ministers try to make you feel you're isolated in your thinking, that you're the only one questioning anything. So you better get back under their submission, their rule--or suffer the consequences. (I decided to take the consequences). I am free and I am staying that way.

The ESN has been a Godsend. You have saved many people, including me and my family. We saw how others were questioning things, as we were, and realized things were just not right in there! Our feelings were right; we weren’t as crazy as others trying to pull us back in would have us think. They practice mind control there. All it takes is a few mentioning of buzz-words from them (i. e., "the Work,""the Church,""Mr. Flurry," etc.) and you start to question your own common sense and your sanity. Well, not anymore.

Greetings from Charlotte, NC! Because of quickly moving prophetic events, and because of the appointment of Mr. Gerald Weston as soon coming President of this Work, I want to write all of you this special letter.

We are living in truly exciting times! As I write this, we have just experienced “Brexit!” As far back as the 1940s, Mr. Herbert Armstrong predicted that the coming European Empire would not contain Great Britain in its final form. He knew—based on God’s Word—that the British and American peoples would be separate from any revival of the Roman Empire and would, in fact, be the object of their invasion and punishment later on, as God is using certain nations to punish other nations as He has always done.

Now, continuing prophetic events seem to be speeding up. We have just witnessed the horror of 49 people murdered in the Orlando, Florida “massacre.” Another 45 people have been killed in a terrorist attack in Istanbul, Turkey. Other events will have happened along this line even by the time you read this.

Since “Brexit,” the European insiders are already planning for a “European Superstate,” as reported in The Sun newspaper in Britain: 

My friends, it now looks like the actual beginning of what will eventually be the “Beast” of Revelation may occur very soon! We, in this Work, are the continuation of the Work Jesus Christ used Herbert W. Armstrong to begin. As many of you know, I am the only one of the early leaders of that Work still ministering and serving actively in God’s Work. 

After graduation from Ambassador College in June, 1952, I fervently desired to assist him in doing the Work—and was used by Christ to help him start churches, lead baptizing tours, be designated as Deputy Chancellor of all three campuses of Ambassador College, serve as Second Vice-President of the entire Work for twelve years—write scores of articles for the Plain Truth and Good News magazines, teach more Ambassador College Bible classes than any other person, etc.

After Worldwide came apart and it became generally apparent that they were not going to get “back on the track,” Christ used me to raise up the Global and now Living Church of God. We have tried to carry on Mr. Armstrong’s work in a loving and positive way—not crucifying people in the way we conducted the Work, or breaking up families, as some others have done. This Work is growing in a consistent manner and we will soon, no doubt, explode on the world scene as our power increases.

Dear brethren, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Weston have served faithfully and very capably in Christ’s Work for over 47 years. In all those years, there has been consistent productivity, integrity, loyalty and accomplishment. They have never had any “scandal” or anything approaching that in the fine service they have given Christ and His people full-time in Christ’s Work at the end of this age. So, after much prayer and study, I have felt strongly led by Christ to make Mr. Weston the President and administrative leader of the Work of God at this time. I hope all of you will be praying fervently for him and his wife. Many challenges are coming and will come. Satan the devil will “go after” them in every way he can. So I will appreciate, personally, your thoughts, your loyalty, your encouragement and, again, your fervent prayers for Mr. and Mrs. Weston in their new responsibilities. And I want to thank all of you, once again, for being so loyal and encouraging to me throughout the 64 years, full-time, that I have served in God’s Work. May God guide all of us to continue on faithfully and truly prepare for God’s Kingdom in every way we can.

Banned by HWA John Robinson post

Over a week ago “Banned” falsely posted that LCG had fired John Robinson.  This has been hot on the internet and I initially believed this myself until getting the facts.

Last Sunday the entire Robinson family attended the LCG social, yesterday the oldest child headed to Banff for the Adventure Camp.  John and family are still in Charlotte and John is still on the LCG payroll and is still working on the next magazine.   The Robinson family will be at Charlotte services today.  

“Banned” twists and spins virtually everything they report to mean something quite different from the truth and often posts outright false reports like this one.  

There is no truth whatsoever to this “Banned” post.

Malm is only stating that it's a lie to discredit your site because he hates you more than he hates RCM. That being said, the Robinson family has been at Sabbath services in Charlotte. It's sad to see someone with so little self esteem take a beating and be willing to come back for more because he's too scared to walk away from what he knows is an abusive, ungodly situation.

In October 2014 we reported about Roderick Meredith’s audio sermon, God’s Government Is Vital, in which he said, “I’ve asked Mr McNair and Mr League, they’ve been working as a team to get all the information on many of these things, and I’m working with them and other leaders ... We’re trying to keep God’s church clean.” 

“We found that some of these people we’ve had to put out ... they often lie and lie, and they’ll twist and turn, and turn things around ...” 

This was a ‘must play’ sermon for the Day of Atonement, together with a sermonette by Rod McNair, Ministerial Authority is Based on Love, in which he set out three measures for disciplining members who cause division within the church by refusing to submit fully to the authority of ministers: Suspension, Disfellowshipping and Marking. This is all done in love, he says, as “love will cover a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8). 

Unfortunately, you can no longer listen to either of these messages, as:‘The item is not available due to issues with the item’s content.’(Bob League, who was named in the legal action, alongside Meredith and McNair, died in January 2015.)

They pulled the videos because that was the sermon that Meredith slandered the Scarborough's. Which is funny since LCG is obviously claiming that they DID NOT slander the Scarborough's since they have hired those fancy lawyers to defend them. 

Why would you remove a video if it wasn't slanderous? You wouldn't. Obviously. 

And yet, instead of making peace (free) the men at LCG keep paying lawyers because they are so prideful and arrogant that they can't admit they were wrong even though it is blaringly obvious to the rest of us that they were.

Dear Brethren and Fellow Ministers in God’s Church, 

I need to write you this personal letter in a relatively quick manner. Events in the world and Work are speeding up, and our entire future is being impacted more and more every day as the world turns further away from God. With incoming administrations in various nations, it is very obvious that it is going to be more difficult to obey God within the next few years. Definite persecution will begin to occur and we will need faith and courage as we have never had before. I really mean this, brethren, and I hope you will pray fervently with me that God will help us do everything we can to prepare for this real future.

A number of our leading ministers have talked about having a Church fast this summer, including myself. But we had not really set a time as it seems there are always so many summer camps and activities going. But I received a very heartfelt note the other day from one of our leading younger ministers here which sort of brought the thing together and made me realize we need to fast now. This young minister referred to an office meeting we recently had—and he appreciated my comments in that meeting. He writes:

I was pleasantly surprised when you referred to Jehoshaphat today. I read his story again in my personal study this week too and was again struck by 2 Chronicles 20:3 when Jehoshaphat ‘feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout Judah.’ As I reread about his proclamation of a FAST, and in the context of recent events at HQ and other situations I am aware of in the field, I was reminded that it has been ‘a while’ since we have had a Church-wide fast. I know that in the past, our Church-wide fasts are often in relation to an ‘event.’ However, as you have noted, it seems that we are under ‘spiritual attack.’ In addition, it seems like many of God’s people are ‘letting down’ spiritually and are more sensitive to offence and rumor. Perhaps this is because God’s people are just ‘distracted with life.’ Might it be time to call another Church-wide fast as a chance for us as a ‘body’ to draw closer to God collectively? We certainly need more unity in the Church and we need to spiritually refocus as a group and stay focused on the Kingdom and on personally overcoming. One of the results I have noticed with Church-wide fasts is that they tend to unify the Church and help us come together with ONE focus."

Brethren, this minister states the matter very well. Several of our ministers in the field have mentioned that, although people are not “falling away” or anything serious, yet there is a sense of spiritual malaise, a kind of a “take it easy” Laodicean attitude that is certainly creeping in. Our people are not “on fire” as much as they have been in the past. And we are certainly going to be under “spiritual attack” more than ever in the future as I have indicated. After talking to a number of our leading ministers here and in the field, I feel it is imperative that we have a Church-wide fast very soon and begin to genuinely seek God as a Church more than we have done for many months or years!

So as the Presiding Evangelist, I am now calling a Church-wide fast for all of God’s people and ministry in the Living Church of God. The time we have selected is the Sabbath of July 30, 2016—beginning, of course, the previous sunset. I hope all of you ministers will cooperate in every way as I know a number of you will probably have to cancel or postpone various picnics, activities, etc. For there is always something going on. But the need for a fast and for all of us to truly set ourselves to seek God as Jehoshaphat did when he “feared and set himself to seek the Eternal” is very vital for His Church and His Work at this time. I hope that all of you ministers and brethren will truly be “on board” with this as it is one of the most important things we could possibly do at this time.

Brethren, let us all take time during this fast to study, to thoughtfully meditate on our weaknesses and shortcomings and Laodicean attitudes and literally “beg God” to stir us and bring us closer to Him than ever before. We need to cry out for the “gifts” of God’s Spirit. We need to cry out for more zeal and for more power in this Work! This very sick world is going down the tubes pretty fast and the nations need to be shaken so that at least they have had a powerful witness from the true Church of God of what is about to occur and why.

So I will appreciate all of your total cooperation and your zeal in following through and joining with all of us in setting ourselves to fast, to meditate and to pray fervently that God will intervene and bring us closer to Him individually and as a Church. May God be with you and guide you in all of this and let us pray for one another as we undertake this important activity at this time.

P.S. I want to ask all of you to carefully study 2 Chronicles 20:1-34 during this time of fasting. It will help you understand what God’s true servants have done in the past and it will help and inspire you to understand God’s power when we seek Him in this way.

Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love 

31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? • Fasting doesn’t make you more righteous, acceptable or pleasing to God
• Fasting doesn’t make you more Christ-like, spiritual or holy
• Fasting doesn’t make you be closer to God (you are one with Him)
• Fasting doesn’t get you cleaned up, straightened out and dried out to receive from God
• Fasting doesn’t help you to “press into” God more (He has “pressed into” you)
• Fasting doesn’t help you “to get hold of God” (He got a hold of you)
• Fasting doesn’t make God start to smile on you or enjoy you more
• Fasting doesn’t make God release more love, power, blessings or anointing
• Fasting doesn’t make God give you more favor, faith, honor or wealth
• Fasting doesn’t make God move or (finally) do something for you
• Fasting doesn’t make God (finally) pay attention and listen to you more attentively
• Fasting doesn’t make God answer your prayers 
• Fasting doesn’t make God show up more in your prayer closet or meetings 
• Fasting doesn’t cause any spiritual or physical victory or breakthrough (only faith does)
• Fasting doesn’t change God’s mind to finally step in and do something
  What does fasting look like under grace and should you do it?
